Sonia Gandhi Rushed From Shimla to Delhi Via Chandigarh Following Complaint of Breathlessness

Gandhi was in Shimla on a private visit along with her daughter Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.

New Delhi, Mar 23: UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi was rushed to Chandigarh late on Thursday night from Shimla following health complications. Gandhi was in Shimla on a private visit along with her daughter Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.

Reports say that Dr Ramesh Chand, Senior Medical Superintendent of IGMC hospital (Shimla), was deputed with the former Congress president. She was also provided an ambulance. The doctors at the emergency wing of the PGI Chandigarh were also alerted after Sonia Gandhi complained of breathlessness.

“Last night I received a call saying that she was not well. We were asked to send ambulance with a doctor to accompany her to Chandigarh. Her blood pressure was high, condition was stable,” Dr Ramesh Chandra, Indira Gandhi Medical College, Shimla said while briefing about the condition of former Congress president.

If officials are to be believed, her health deteriorated mainly due to cold conditions after the temperature dipped in the region following rains and thunderstorm.

Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka had arrived in the city on Wednesday and were lodged at five-star luxury hotel, Wildflower Hall, near Charabra.

Sonia Gandhi’s visit to Shimla in Himachal Pradesh comes a few days after the Congress Plenary Session which was held in New Delhi.
