SIR Extension: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has extended the date for SIR in six states today. The states are Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh and one union territory, Andaman and Nicobar. This was stated in the official press release of the ECI on Thursday. The process of SIR (Special Intensive Revision) was underway in several states actively. Now, the EC’s decision of extension in Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, and Andaman and Nicobar has come as a relief for the BLOs (Booth Level Officers).

The earlier deadline for Uttar Pradesh was December 26, 2025, i.e., Friday. Now, it has been revised to December 31, 2025, i.e., Friday. The Chief Electoral Officer of Uttar Pradesh, Navdeep Rinwa, stated that the state had requested the ECI to give some extra time to complete the entire process of Special Intensive Revision (SIR). He further stated that the ECI granted the request and the deadline was extended in the state by 15 days.
