Special Police Officer Goes Missing With an AK-47 Rifle in Jammu And Kashmir

More details are awaited in the incident

New Delhi, June 27: A special police officer with an AK-47 rifle goes missing after reportedly leaving from Pampore police station, a news agency ANI reported on Wednesday. According to media reports, SPO identified as Irfan Ahmad Dar left the police station Pampore after he suffered some illness. However, more details are awaited.

Reportedly, the missing SPO is a resident of Kakapora Pulwama. Police have launched a manhunt to track down the missing cop. SP Awantipora Muhammad Zahid Malik confirmed that the SPO is missing since last evening.

Police have even contacted his family and are yet to confirm whether he has fled with his rifle or not. According to DNA reports, Hizbul-Mujahideen has claimed that SPO who fled with AK-47 rifle, has joined their ranks. Earlier in the day, security forces had arrested four overground workers of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militant outfit from Sopore area. Hizb-ul-Mujahideen on Wednesday claimed that SPO Irfan Ahmad Dar, who fled with AK 47  rifle, has joined their ranks.

Recently, an Army jawan Aurangzeb was abducted and killed by terrorists from Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama while on his way back home to celebrate Eid with his family. After his abduction, the Jammu and Kashmir Police had launched a massive manhunt. Hours later, his bullet-riddled body was found in the outskirts of Pulwama.

In May last year, terrorists had kidnapped a young Lieutenant of Rashtriya Rifles, Ummer Fayaz, while he was attending a wedding in his family in Shopian. Fayaz’s bullet-riddled body was found the next day.
