Rameswaram, Aug 10 : Two Sri Lankan courts today ordered the release of 40 fishermen arrested by the island nation’s navy for allegedly fishing in their territory in June.

While 14 of them belonged to Rameswaram, the rest were from Nagapattinam and Karaikal, Fishermen Association President S Emiret and Secretary N J Bose said. Also Read: 42 fishermen taken to custody by Bangladesh Marine police

All the 40 fishermen have been released by the respective Judicial Magistrates in Sri Lanka, they said.
