Sridevi Funeral in Mumbai Updates: Actress' Mortal Remains to be Embalmed Tomorrow, Claim Reports

Mumbai, Feb 26: Body of veteran actress Sridevi, who died on Sunday after cardiac arrest, will be brought India by a chartered flight from Dubai today. The last rites of Sridevi could take place at Pawan Hans crematorium in Mumbai later in the day. Sridevi, the second wife of producer Boney Kapoor, had gone to attend a family wedding ceremony in Dubai. The 54-year-old actress had no history of heart ailment, her brother-in-law and actor Sanjay Kapoor said. Catch live updates on last rites of Sridevi in Mumbai here.

Sridevi suffered a cardiac arrest following which she fell unconscious inside the bathroom Dubai’s Jumeirah Emirates Tower Hotel. She was immediately taken to Rashid Hospital where she was declared dead. According to reports, she went to the washroom after chatting with her husband. After 15 minutes passed and Sridevi did not come out, Boney Kapoor knocked on the door to check on her. Born in Sivakasi in Tamil Nadu on August 13, 1963, Sridevi began her career at the age of four in the devotional film “Thunaivan”. She was last seen on screen in ‘Mom’. Her last movie will be Shahrukh Khan’s Zero which is slated to be released in December this year. The sudden demise of the Padma Shri recipient shook the entire country and her fans across the world. From Bollywood stars to political personalities to Pakistani icons, her fans and admirers expressed shock and disbelief.

    India’s Ambassador to UAE Navdeep Soori said Indian embassy is in talks with Dubai authorities so that mortal remains of the actress are sent back to Country at the earliest.

    The media interest in untimely demise of Sridevi is understandable. But the frenzy of speculation does not help. Imp to note that:
    1. We are working with local authorities to ensure that mortal remains can be sent to India at the earliest. We are on the job.
