Sriganganagar: Tin Shed Collapses During Tractor Race; 5 Dead, 50 Injured, Many Feared Trapped

New Delhi, Jul 29: In an unfortunate incident, five people died and 50 were critically injured after a tin shed of a makeshift stadium collapsed during a tractor race in Sriganganagar in Rajasthan, ANI reported on Sunday. Many are feared trapped in the accident. The incident took place in Dharmandi area.

According to the information, tractor competition was going on in Dharmandi in Padampur. During the competition, thousands of people were present. Suddenly, the roof fell down which created panic in the people.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje expressed grief and ordered an inquiry into the accident. Meanwhile, Congress Minister Sachin Pilot said that the administration was aware about the event. More precaution could have been taken, he said.

Nihal Singh Chauhan, MP, Sriganganagar district said that action will be taken if the permission was not there to conduct the event.

According to media reports, more than 300 people have been injured in this accident while many people are expected dead. The injured have been admitted to the hospital. Of the injured, 50 are reportedly in a serious condition.

In another incident, one boy died and one girl was injured after the roof of a rented house collapsed in Dabri Extension area on Sunday, reported ANI.  Police have reached the spot and rescue operation is underway.
