July 1: Despite clear indications from Prime Minister Narendra Modi that attacks on BJP leadership will not be tolerated, Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy has refused to halt his diatribe on Twitter. This time the member of the saffron party has targeted the PM himself. Swamy on Friday questioned Modi’s promise of ‘Achchhe Din’ which won him the 2014 General elections, and cast aspersions on the current system of GDP calculation of the government. On Friday, Swamy yet again took to Twitter to voice his dissenting views on the BJP government’s claims of a bright future, saying that if he revealed the real Gross Domestic Product (GDP) figures, it will not go down well with the party. “If I apply Samuelson-Swamy Theory of Index Numbers to India’s GDP calculation or RBI interests rates, media will scream anti party activity!”, Swamy said in his tweet. This comes after Swamy was indirectly snubbed by the PM during his interview with Arnab Goswami. ALSO READ: Justice Markandey Katju calls Subramanian Swamy a modern day ‘Narad Muni’ Also Read - Vaccination Against COVID-19 Begins in India, Bailey Bridge on Jammu-Srinagar Highway Opens After 1 Week: Top Headlines at This Hour

When questioned by Goswami on his party’s “hot heads who make extreme comments”, the PM, without naming Swamy or anyone else had said, “such things are inappropriate… the nation won’t benefit from such publicity stunts… anyone who believes he is bigger than the system is wrong”. Modi had also defended Raghuram Rajan against Swamy, saying that “Raghuram Rajan’s patriotism is no less than any of ours… Those who speak such language are doing great injustice to him…” Swamy, who has been in the Rajya Sabha for all of two months, has come under fire for taking unapologetic swipes at BJP top brass, including Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.
