Puri, February 10: Renowned sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik on Wednesday created a sand sculpture to pray for the speedy recovery of lance Hanumanthappa Koppad. The sand sculpture was created by Pattnaik at Puri beach on Wednesday evening in which his students had also assisted him. Apart from Pattnaik, retired Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar too offered his prayer for L/Nk Hanumanthappa. Tendulkar tweeted his support for the brave heart and also paid gratitude to the other nine soldiers whose bodies were recovered but none of them was found alive. A woman in Uttar Pradesh and an ex-sailor have offered to donate their organs to save life of Hanumanthappa.
Last year Pattnaik creation of world largest sculpture of Santa Claus on same beach booked his name at the Limca Book of Records. The sculptor measured 45 feet high and 50 feet wide.
Officially it is still not clear whether Pattnaik had broken the Guinness Book of World record of Ted Siebert of United States who created a tallest sand castle of 45 feet 10.25 inches.
Pattnaik a world-renowned sand artist from Orrisa had been awarded by several countries for his contribution towards a unique for of art. In 2014 Indian Goverment awarded him Padma Shri. He also runs classes for students in Puri, where he teaches students in large number to build their career in sand art.
