New Delhi: Like the mascot for 2010 Commonwealth Games, Shera, and Air India’s Maharaja, soon India’s first bullet train will too erect its official mascot.

But there’s a catch!

You can design a mascot and suggest a name for the train and if chosen, the National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHRCL) will reward you with Rs 50,000 cash prize.

The NHRCL is now open to entries from public, laden with suggestions on the name and the design of the mascot for India’s maiden bullet train. Their statement read, “The mascot essentially should be a well designed character which will personify the value system of NHRCL and will also be able to communicate effectively. Naming the bullet train will provide it an identity which will help people to establish a connect with the bullet train.”

The bullet train will run between Mumbai-Ahmedabad by 2022.

To participate, go to the mygov.in, log in and find details there to submit your suggestions.

The name of the train and the mascot will be shortlisted through a nominated committee and the winners will be awarded a cash prize along with a certificate confirming their participation in the contest.

There will also be five consolation prizes in each category.

The logo of NHRCL, which was adopted in the year 2017, symbolises speed and is represented by a “cheetah”, while the red and blue lines symbolise calm and reliability.
