Sukma, Mar 13:
Nine personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were martyred on Tuesday after an IED blast carried out by Naxals hit their vehicle
. The Naxal attack took place in the Naxal-infested Sukma
district of Chhattisgarh. Two other jawans were injured and are undergoing treatment in Raipur. The incident occurred in Kistaram area of Sukma. The deceased CRPF personnel are from the 212 battalion.
“A patrolling party was going from Kistaram to Palodi in an anti-landmine vehicle which was targeted by Naxals with an IED. Extra force has reached the spot, there is no firing at present,” DM Awasthi, Special DG, Anti Naxal Operations, said.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh extended his condolences to the bereaved families. “My heartfelt condolences to the families of those personnel who lost their lives in Sukma blast. I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured jawans. I spoke to DG CRPF regarding the Sukma incident and asked him to leave for Chhattisgarh,” he said.
