New Delhi: Surat businessman Savji Dholakia is back in the news again. This time, the owner of Hare Krishna Exporters has reportedly gifted three Mercedes-Benz GLS SUVs to three senior staff members of the company. Mahesh Chandpara (43), Nilesh Jada (40) and Mukesh Chandpara (38) were honoured for completing 25 years of service with the company. They were given the keys of the SUVs worth Rs 3 crore at an event in Surat by former Gujarat chief minister and Madhya Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel. The luxury SUV is powered by a 3-litre V6 engine. Its on-road price in Surat is near Rs 1 crore, a report suggested. The car is coupled with a seven-speed automatic transmission gearbox. It comes with LED headlamps and intelligent lighting system along with features such as panoramic sunroof, three-zone climate control system among others. A report quotes Dholakia as saying that the employees who have been rewarded for their service joined the company as teenagers.
This is not the first time that the Surat-based diamond merchant is news for the deed. Earlier in 2017, on New Year, he had gifted Datsun’s redi-GO hatchback to 1,200 employees of the company.
Meanwhile in 2016, he gave Rs 51 crore Diwali bonus to his employees. He was also in the news for gifting 1,260 cars along with 400 flats to his employees.
Fondly known as Savjikaka in Surat and Saurashtra, Dholakia says that he gifts his employees on the basis of their performance.
