Ahmedabad, Oct 8: Gujarat Police has sounded an alert and are keeping tight vigil in coastal areas following intelligence inputs on possible attack by Pakistan terrorists post surgical strike. Gujarat Police has received inputs from the defence establishment that Pakistani terrorists may carry out attacks entering Indian waters in the guise of fishermen. The defence establishment has warned the state police that terror operatives from Pakistan may enter into Indian territorial waters in the guise of fisherman. If those fake fishermen returns to Pakistan without being noticed or caught, then they can provide vital information about security to ISI or Pakistan-based terror groups. The defence intelligence has alerted the Gujarat Police and other security agencies about possible infiltration bids by Pakistani terrorists from Indo-Pak borders in Kutch and Banaskantha districts. All security agencies have been asked to interrogate pakistani fishermen strictly who enter Indian waters apparently by mistake. The warning came days after Indian Coast Guard and Border Security Force (BSF) apprehended two Pakistani boats with 18 crew members off the Gujarat coast. “We have put our men on high alert in Kutch and Banaskantha and have also activated human intelligence network for information on suspicious movements,” a top Gujarat Police official was quoted as saying by Times of India. The Gujarat cops and other security agencies have been interrogating the 18 Pakistani fishermen who were apprehended near Porbandar and Kutch coast extensively. The boat which was apprehended near Chouhan Nala with Pakistani fishermen has no fishing nets which raised suspicions. “While the fishermen apprehended about 100 nautical miles off Porbandar coast seem to be genuine, the ones caught in a boat off Chouhan Nala seem suspicious,” a cops investigating the case said. “Their boat is too small to accommodate nine persons and we suspect that other boats could have been nearby which we suspect could have escaped back to Pakistani waters seeing Indian forces,” said an investigator.
The BSF has apprehended a Pakistani boat with 9 crew member from creek area of Kutch, days after Indian Coast Guard apprehended a Pakistani boat with nine crew members off the Gujarat coast. All the 18 Pakistani fishermen have been detained and are being interrogated. The Multi-Agency Centre has issued warning to states sharing border with Pakistan that two suspicious boats have left Karachi port and are on their way either to Gujarat or Maharashtra coast.
