New Delhi, Feb 12: Surma, Ambassa, Karmachhara, Chawamanu and Pabiachhara  are going to polls on February 18 in the Tripura Assembly Election 2018, which is likely to witness a fight between the CPI(M) and the BJP in the state. The state had in the past witnessed an electoral battle between the CPI(M) and the Congress.

Take a look at Surma, Ambassa, Karmachhara, Chawamanu and Pabiachhara constituencies which is reserved for SC/ST candidates.

Surma (SC): This seat is reserved for SC candidates. Though all the major political parties in the state have fielded their candidates, the main fight is considered between Congress, BJP, CPI(M) and AITC. For 2018 polls, Congress has fielded Tapas Kumar Das, BJP has fielded Ashis Das, CPI (M) fielded Anjan Das and All India Trinamool Congress chose Jay Kumar Keot from the seat.

In 2013, CPM’s Sudhir Das registered thumping victory from constituency number 46.

Ambassa (ST): This seat is reserved for Scheduled Tribe candidates. For 2018 Assembly elections, Indian National Congress has fielded Sachitra Debbarma, BJP has nominated Parimal Debbarma, CPI(M) has fielded Bharat Reang. Apart from that few regional parties and Independent candidates are also in fray.

In 2013, the constituency was won by CPM’s Lalit Kumar Debbarma

Karmachhara (ST): Like Ambassa, this seat is also reserved for Scheduled Tribe candidates. For 2018 Assembly polls, Congress has fielded Ranjanbati Debbarma, CPI(M) has fielded Umakanta Tripura, Bharatiya Janata Party has shown its faith on Dibachandra Hrangkhawl and Indigenous Nationalist Party of Twipra nominated Ratish Tripura.

In 2013,  the constituency was won by Congress’ Diba Chandra Hrangkhawl.

Chawamanu (ST): Constituency number 49 is also reserved for candidates under Scheduled Tribe category. For 2018 Assembly elections, CPI(M) has fielded Nirajoy Tripura whereas BJP has chosen Sambhu Lal Chakma. Congress candidate Ashok Mitra Karbari is also in the fray along with several Independent and regional parties candidates.

Pabiachhara (SC): Pabiachhara is reserved for candidates under schdeuled caste category.  Though all the major political parties in have fielded their candidates, the main fight is considered between Congress, BJP and CPI(M). In 2013, CP(M)’s Samiran Malakar had defeated Congress’s Satyaban Das.

The results for the elections will be declared on Saturday March 3, 2018.
