New Delhi, June 19: External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Sunday addressed annual press conference on India’s achievements on completion of two years of NDA government. Swaraj discussed India’s foreign policy with the neighbouring countries, including NSG issue. Talking to media, Swaraj said, “We had high level contacts western African, Gulf, Arab league and neighbourhood at highest levels. EAM enumerates the many achievements on foreign policy from increase in FDI, Investments in flagship program to India shaping global agenda,” she added.
Swaraj also gave insight into the developing Indo-Pakistan ties. She said that although there are issues to be resolved with the neighboring country, there is an warmth in the relations. She added saying, “Foreign Secretary-level talks between India and Pak have not been cancelled, but we are only awaiting probe from Pakistan side on Pathankot attack.” (ALSO READ: Anurag Thakur urges Sushma Swaraj for passport office in Hamirpur)
She also added saying, “Around 65 countries are there where no one has gone on a ministerial level, we are trying to connect to those countries as well.Prime Minister in just 10 months covered UAE, Saudi Arab, Iran and Qatar successful for better economic ties. We have decided to reach out to almost all countries in the world with help of state governments and Cabinet Ministers by the end of this year in December. This is the first time that 54 countries we invited and we are happy that all of them accepted our invitation.”
She also spoke about the National Security Guard (NSG) membership and said that it is essential for India to have save in nuclear matters. Talking about it, Swaraj said, “China is not protesting membership of India in NSG, it is only talking of criteria procedure. I’m myself in contact with 23 nations. We will not oppose entry of any nation in NSG.”
Talking about Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). Swaraj said, “43 per cent increase in FDI in last two years. FDI doesn’t come in by sitting at home. Foreign trips boosted foreign investment.”
