New Delhi: On the occasion of Vivekananda Jayanti, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to Swami Vivekananda on his Twitter handle. “The thoughts and ideals of Swami Vivekananda inspire and energise crores of Indians, particularly our youth,” tweeted Prime Minister Modi on Saturday. He added that Vivekananda has motivated him to build an India that is strong, vibrant, inclusive and an India that takes global leadership in several areas.

Reinstating Vivekananda’s words: ‘Arise, awake and stop not till the goal is reached,’ Prime Minister Modi stated that the visionary’s words are powerful and rich. Modi tweeted that Vivekananda emphasised on the ideals of service and renunciation and his belief in Yuva Shakti was unwavering.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis also took to Twitter and said, “The more we come out and do good to others, the more our hearts will be purified and God will be in them! My Salutations to the great youth icon, our inspiration Swami Vivekananda Ji on his birth anniversary!”

Swami Vivekananda, a social reformer and philosopher, was born in an aristocratic family in West Bengal on January 12, 1863, in the Pausha Krishna Saptami Tithi. Vivekananda Jayanti is celebrated to pay respect and remember the great teachings of the visionary leader who inspired and continues to inspire millions of youth across the world. The birthday of Vivekananda is celebrated as the National Youth Day across India and by his followers worldwide.
