New Delhi: Bringing its election manifesto into effect, the Delhi government on Thursday decided to hold a conference with experts, NGOs and officials on February 27 to suggest an action plan to tackle air pollution in the national capital. An announcement to this effect was made by Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai on Thursday. The development comes after AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal on January 17 released the party’s ‘Kejriwal Ka Guarantee Card’ ahaead of the Delhi Assembly Election 2020. The Guarantee Card included promises to continue 200 units free electricity, Mohalla marshals and 24×7 clean water to every resident of the national capital.
“This guarantee speaks about things which affect every resident of Delhi. We have already fulfilled some promises. We are now promising in our guarantee card that it will continue. The opposition says these schemes will only be there till March 31 and Kejriwal will scrap this later,” Kejriwal had said while launching it.
In the Guarantee Card, Kejriwal also promised to reduce the air pollution in Delhi by three times and announced cleaning of Yamuna. “Two crores tree will be planted in the next five years,” Kejriwal said.
