Mumbai, March 23: 26/11 attack prime operative David Coleman Headley during his cross-examination said that Tahawwur Rana was not in touch with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). During the deposition he said that Tahawwur Rana knew about Headley’s association with LeT. Headley’s cross examination began in Mumbai court on Wednesday. When Headley was asked questions pertaining to his wife Shazia Gilani, he refused to answer. Headley said, “Interaction with my wife is a personal issue” while the lawyer said, ‘you are running away from answering questions’. The prosecutor interfered saying that no one can be forced to give statement against his own wife as per law of ‘privileged communication’ in evidence act. Court has asked for more citation of law and will decide whether the lawyer can ask questions related to wife Shazia or not. Abdul Wahab Khan, the lawyer of Sayed Zabiuddin Ansari alias Abu Jundal, proceeded the cross-examination. Special Public Prosecutor in the case Ujjwal Nikam was also present at the court. (Also Read: David Headley’s cross-examination to start on March 23)
In his deposition, Headley revealed information about the planning behind the terror attacks. He provided vital information and his role in the attacks. Mumbai attack on November 26, 2008 killed 166 persons, including foreign nationals. For Mumbai attacks, Headley drew maps, took video and finalisedtargets for the attacks including the Taj Hotel, Oberoi Hotel and Nariman House.
