The announcement was made by AIADMK Secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami on Monday (March 23) in Chennai in the presence of BJP leader Piyush Goyal, BJP Tamil Nadu president Nainar Nagendran, PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss, and AMMK General Secretary TTV Dhinakaran.
"Our alliance is an alliance of victory. We will form a government this time. We travel to Delhi to hold discussions, but the DMK is spreading false information about us. Talks concluded smoothly. Our alliance partners held a discussion today and, by today, seat allocation of smaller parties will also be decided," AIADMK leader Edappadi K Palaniswami said during a press conference held to announce the seat-sharing deal between the allies.
"We are all one family and we will fight the elections to win them...We are very satisfied with the 27 seats, we will sweep the elections as the people of the state are fed up with CM Stalin and DCM Udhayanidhi Stalin...They have hurt the culture of the state... NDA will form the government in the state," said Piyush Goyal.
Meanwhile, AMMK General Secretary TTV Dhinakaran thanked Union Home Minister Amit Shah for smooth seat-sharing talks within the state, expressing confidence for the NDA alliance in winning the elections. "We will contest the elections on 11 seats...We are all very happy with the seat sharing...I thank the Union Home Minister Amit Shah, everything is going on smoothly. We will win the elections...The public is fed up with the DMK government and their alliance will lose the elections," Dhinakaran said.
Tamil Nadu will go to the polls in a single phase on April 23, with counting scheduled for May 4. The current tenure of the 234-member state assembly ends on May 10.
"Just like the Congress and its partners faced continuous defeat in elections held in Maharashtra, Haryana, Bihar and Delhi, the people of Tamil Nadu will reject the DMK-Congress combine in the state," he added. Asserting that the needs of the voters, he said that people are seeking good governance, development politics, a better future, and opportunities for youth and women. He also said that the state is ready for a government under Alliance guided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership.
