Lucknow: The colleague who was in the car with Apple sales executive Vivek Tiwari, was shot by a policeman for not stopping his vehicle, finally broke her silence acknowledging the fact that the cops point-blankly shot him. The woman, identified as Sana, said that Vivek did not stop the car as the roads were deserted. She said that since it was quite dark they overstepped on the rear tyre of the cop’s bike and thereafter the cops swirled, came in front of their car and shot Vivek.
The cops then fled away. Sana said it was then that the vehicle hit the pillar of an underpass. She also added that she wasn’t carrying her mobile phone last night and had to borrow a phone from a truck driver. After some time, police arrived and took Vivek to Lohia hospital, Zee News reported. During treatment itself, Vivek succumbed to his injuries.
Sana called for strict punishment against the two cops who shot Vivek and said they shouldn’t be spared. Earlier in the morning, Sana who was in a state of shock had refused to comment on the matter. Meanwhile, Vivek’s wife, Kalpana wrote a letter to UP CM Yogi Adityanath and demanded a compensation of Rs 1 crore and a job in the police department.
Vivek Tiwari, who was reportedly working as an area sales manager with Apple. He was allegedly shot by a police constable in the wee hours of Saturday after the deceased refused to stop his car. The shooting took place at around 1:30 AM in the Gomti Nagar extension area.
UP ADG Law & Order Anand Kumar also said that a case of murder under Section 302 Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against the two policemen and stringent action will be taken. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to probe the incident further. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that ‘it was not an encounter’ and a CBI inquiry will be ordered into the incident.
