Hyderabad: The Congress on Saturday released the third list of 13 candidates for upcoming Telangana Assembly Election 2018. For the December 7 polls, the party has fielded Taher Bin Hamden From Nizamabad (Urban) while, Ponnala Lakshmaiah will contest from Jangaon. The Congress has named Soyam Bapu Rao as a candidate from Boath (ST), Dr Rekula Bhupathi Reddy from Nizamabad (Rural), E Anil Kumar from Balkonda, D Sudhir Reddy from Lal Bahadur Nagar, Osman Bin Mohammad Al Hazri from Karwan, K Rajender Raju from Yakutpura, Kalem Baba from Bahdurpura, Beeram Harsh Vardhan Reddy from Kollapur, Balu Naik from Devarakonda (ST), Addanki Dayakar from Thungathurthy (SC) and Banoth Haripriya Naik from Yellandu (ST). The party is leading the ‘grand alliance’ of opposition parties for the polls which comprises of the Congress, TDP, CPI and Telangana Jana Samiti (TJS). Under the seat sharing agreement, the party has allotted 14 seats to the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and 8 to Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) and 3 to the Communist Party of India. The total number of seats are 119.

The process of filing nominations began on Monday with the Election Commission issuing a notification in this regard. The counting of votes is scheduled for December 11. The results will also be announced on the same day.

The Telangana Assembly was dissolved on September 6, 2018, on the recommendation of the ruling K Chandrasekhar Rao-led Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government.

The party-wise strength in the 119-member Telangana Legislative Assembly before its dissolution was TRS-82, Congress-17, AIMIM-7, BJP-5, TDP-3, Vacant-2, the CPI, CPI(M), Independent and nominated member (one each).
