Hyderabad: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Raja Singh on Sunday said he wouldn’t take oath in the state assembly in front of the pro-tem speaker who is from All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM)– the party which wants get rid of Hindus. Singh further accused AIMIM of not being patriotic enough stating they never sing Vande Mataram and never say Bharat Mata ki Jai.

Singh said, “I don’t want to take oath in front of a pro-tem speaker whose party wants to vanish Hindus. They never sing Vande Mataram & never say Bharat Mata ki Jai.”

The swearing-in ceremony scheduled on January 17 will see designated pro-tem Speaker Mumtaz Ahmed Khan also taking the oath. 70-year-old Khan has been elected to be the pro-tem Speaker of Telangana as usually, the senior most MLA-elect is given the post. According to a press release from the CMO, Governor ESL Narasimhan will administer the oath to Khan, who represents the Charminar constituency.

In a video uploaded on his Facebook page, Raja Singh said, “All the MLAs have to take oath in front of an AIMIM MLA. This decision has been taken by the Telangana CM KCR. I would like to say that Raja Singh will not go to the Telangana Assembly and will not take oath in front of him.”

“I will not take oath in front of a Speaker belonging to ‘that’ (AIMIM) party, which speaks about finishing off Hindus and won’t say ‘Vande Mataram’ or ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’. I won’t take oath in front of a Speaker from such a dirty party,” he added.

Raja Singh is the only MLA from BJP who managed to retain his seat in the Telangana elections which was held last year. Singh has been infamous for his hate against the Muslim community. Last year, Singh called for shooting down Rohingya Muslims citing them as foreigners. He had also called for a ban on the Quran and threatened to burn down theatres in Telangana that screened the Bollywood movie Padmaavat. In 2017, he threatened to behead those who opposed the construction of the Ram temple at the disputed site in Ayodhya.
