New Delhi: K Chandrasekhar Rao-led Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) is likely to get majority in the upcoming Telangana Assembly Elections 2018, predicted an opinion poll conducted by VDP Associates, a polling agency studying electoral trends in India.

The survey forecast a big win for TRS with 80 seats and gave the Congress and the AIMIM 20 and 8 seats respectively. The BJP on the other hand will manage to bag 7 seats only.

In terms of vote share, the TRS is expected to get 41% of votes, the Congress 27%,  the BJP 10%,  MIM 6% and TDP 4%.

According to the poll, TRS chief and caretaker CM K Chandrashekar Rao is the most preferred candidate to be the chief minister of the state. While KCR was preferred by 51 per cent of respondents, Congress’ Uttar Kumar Reddy and AIMIM’s Asaduddin Owaisi was backed by 10% and 9% people only.

The survey came a week after K Chandrashekar Rao released a list of 105 candidates for the state’s 119 seats immediately after the dissolution of the Assembly. The party-wise strength in the 120-member Telangana Legislative Assembly before its dissolution was TRS-82, Congress-17, AIMIM-7, BJP-5, TDP-3, Vacant-2, the CPI, CPI(M), Independent and nominated member (one each).
