Hyderabad, Dec 14: Telangana government has decided not to send their 2016 Republic Day parade tableau this day to Delhi this. The decision comes after K Chandrashekar Rao-led government said that they would not send their tableaus after it was rejected by Centre twice. The Union Ministry of Defence rejected three tableau models displaying Telnagana’s culture and heritage.
According to a Times of India Report, this is the second time, Telangana was embarrassed at the Centre. Talking about the rejection, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), floor leader in the Lok Sabha, AP Jitender Reddy said, “There is no point in presenting where they want to eliminate us. Better not try when the rejection is imminent for reasons not justified and when the same principle is not seemed to be applicable to all. The state government has decided not to send any tableau in future.”
During 2015 Republic Day parade, Telangana’s tableau was rejected by the selection committee headed by a joint secretary in the defence ministry, however was included only after the state made a special request as it was the state’s formation year. V Subhash, director of the Telanaga Information and Public Relations department said, “We are particular about taking in the 2015 parade since we wanted to announce to the world the birth of the state. It was significant since US President Barack Obama was the Chief Guest and it was important for us to send the message across. But we can’t go on begging year after year and don’t want them to give them any opportunity to do so any more.”
