Telangana, Nov 16: The Telangana police have an advanced way of getting the state’s Karimnagar district rid of open defecation and that is drones. The drone cameras have been deployed on the banks of a local reservoir and the police have claimed that the practice has drastically brought down the numbers within three days. “The number of people indulging in open defecation has come down drastically by Wednesday,” Karimnagar commissioner of police VB Kamalasan Reddy was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.

The police had earlier deployed drones to keep a check on the people who come over to commit suicide by jumping into the reservoir of Lower Manair Dam (LMD), which is also a drinking water source for the people of Karimnagar town. The drone was also kept to keep a watch on the drunkards gathering near the reservoir. Now, the drones also help in checking on people indulging in open defecation. The police, in fact, identified the people defecating in open and garlanded them in public. A member of Karimnagar Walkers’ Association said that they were garlanded in order to bring a little sense of shame and also to prevent them from repeating the act.
