New Delhi, May 14: Delhi’s Saket Court on Saturday took cognisance of chargesheet filed in The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) sexual harassment case in which its former chairman RK Pachauri is facing allegations.Also Read - Former TERI Chief And Environmentalist R K Pachauri Passes Away at 79

The court today said there are sufficient evidence to proceed against Pachauri under the sexual harassment case that took place last year in February. The court today decided to proceed the matter under section 354 A, 354 B, 354 D,509 and 341 of Indian Penal Code (IPC). However it dropped section 506 (criminal intimidation) of IPC in the matter. The Saket Court in Delhi has fixed July 11, as the date to supply copy of the charge sheet to Pachauri. Pachauri who shared the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize with former US Vice-President Al Gore, was forced to step down after a 29-year-old female researcher at TERI accused him of harassing her. Read Also: (RK Pachauri steps down from TERI governing council to ‘pursue other interests’) Also Read - Delhi Court Frames Molestation Charges Against Former TERI Chief RK Pachauri

Last year in June, cops investigating the matter also questioned 74-year-old scientist, based on the evidence provided by the victim. The victim had alleged that Pachauri had been sending inappropriate emails, WhatsApp and text messages to her. The police officials probing the sexual harassment case, today cited around 23 prosecution witnesses whose statements have been recorded by the them.

Instead of several allegations made by the researcher of multiple sexual harassment, Pachauri was elevated to a newly created post of the Executive Vice Chairman in TERI, in February this year. After the officials of TERI faced huge criticism from across the nation, the officials asked Pachauri to proceed on indefinite leave.
