Terrorists Killed Jammu And Kashmir Policemen on Instructions of ISI; Intercepted Calls' Claim Led India to Call Off Talks With Pakistan

New Delhi: The Jammu and Kashmir policemen were abducted and brutally killed by suspected Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists on Friday (September 21) over instructions given by the ISI, intercepted calls revealed. To an extent, the government’s decision of calling off the proposed talks between External Affairs minister Sushma Swaraj and her Pakistani counterpart Shah Mahmood Qureshi on the sidelines of the UNGA is also based on this revelation, a report quoting Intelligence agency sources said.

Announcing the decision of pulling out of the talks, MEA spokesperson Raveesh Kumar had said, “Since yesterday’s announcement of a meeting of foreign ministers of India and Pakistan, two deeply disturbing developments took place. The latest brutal killings of our security personnel by Pakistan entities and the recent release of series of 20 postal stamps by Pakistan glorifying terrorists. Pakistan must ensure peace is upheld. Naya Pakistan PM’s (Imran Khan) face has been exposed.”

On the other hand, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi accused India of finding an excuse to reject the proposal of talks between the two neighbours. He further said that Pakistan was of the view that both the countries will benefit if they sit and solve the issues.

“I regret the way India 1st accepted our goodwill gesture and then rejected it. We were of the view that everyone will be benefitted if we sit together and solve our issues. They first agreed but later had to find excuses to reject our proposal. In the month of September, they named an action taken in the month of July as the reason, which was inappropriate,” he had said.

The talks were to be held between Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj and her Pakistan counterpart Shah Mehmood Qureshi in Geneva.

The bodies of three Special Police Officers (SPOs) were recovered from an orchard in Wangam area on Friday. A Twitter handle purportedly belonging to the Hizbul Mujahideen group has claimed responsibility of the abduction and killing. Those killed were identified as Nissar Ahmed, Firdous Ahmed and Kulwant Singh. The dastardly act was reportedly carried out to derail the upcoming urban local body polls that are scheduled to be held in the state in four phases starting October 8. Jammu and Kashmir panchayat polls will be conducted in nine-phases from November 17.
