New Delhi, March 21: A video clip showing an allegedly drunk policeman on Delhi metro had gone viral on social media last year in August. However, it now turns out that the the policeman had actually suffered stroke. 50-year-old Salim PK was ridiculed on social media for misconduct and inappropriate behavior. Coming under pressure, Delhi police commissioner BS Bassi suspended him and asked for an explanation for his conduct. Following the video, Salim was mocked at by neighbors and colleagues. Following the embarrassing incident, Salim’s wife slipped into depression and suffered a heart attack. The family also started receiving phone calls from their home town Kerala inquiring about his behavior. Salim, a Head Constable with the Delhi Police and his family was devastated after the incident. The video titled, ‘Drunk Delhi Police man on Delhi metro – Funny’ had gone viral thus grabbing national and international headlines.

The constable has received a clean chit after it was proven that he was not drunk and was suffering from a medical condition. Police Department apologetic of action, declared his suspension term as spent on duty. Salim has also urged the government to take down the video and to prevent such abuses in the future. Salim wants the Delhi government, Police Commissioner, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, and the Press Council of India to take measures so that he can regain his reputation. Wills Mathews, his lawyer told Mail Today that Salim wants news channels and newspapers to publish the right story and regain his lost dignity.
