New Delhi, May 13: India Meteorological Department (IMD) Dehradun on Sunday issued fresh weather warning for next five days in the state, a news agency ANI reported. The department has predicted that light to moderate rain/thunderstorm is likely to hit the state today and Monday. The IMD on Saturday predicted that Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh in all likelihood may witness thunderstorm accompanied with squall, while parts of Rajasthan might see dust storm over the next two days i.e, Sunday and Monday.
A thunderstorm accompanied with squall with wind speed reaching 50-70 kilometers per hour are “very likely” at isolated places over east Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha and Jharkhand, the IMD advisory said. “Thunderstorm accompanied with gusty winds also very likely at isolated places over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, west Uttar Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Telangana, north coastal Andhra Pradesh, south interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Lakshadweep, and Kerala,” it added.
Earlier in the first week of May, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan have alone witnessed over 120 deaths due to thunderstorm and violent winds. Meanwhile, several states in north India have witnessed erratic weather pattern over the fortnight.
