Mistrusting a video on TikTok, two families in Alapalli village made a juice out of seeds of Datura Stramonium, a locally available weed with toxic properties, and drank it. Within minutes, they fell ill and were found in semi-conscious condition by their neighbours. The local health authorities also took note of the incident and appealed to people not to follow unscientific remedies shown on any social media platform. The health officials noted that there is no vaccine or preventive drug for Covid-19 as of yet.

People should not believe in any video being circulated on social media offering home remedies for the dreaded virus, they said.

At least fifteen new cases of coronavirus have been reported in Andhra Pradesh since last night, taking the total number of infected to 329.
