New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) Jarnail Singh has defeated his nearest rival Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Rajiv Babbar by a strong margin of over 15,000 votes. Singh secured 25,876 votes, while the BJP candidate garnered 10,665 votes.
Congress candidate Raminder Singh could win just 642 votes, securing less than 2 percent of votes.
Counting of votes polled in the high-stakes Delhi Assembly election began on Tuesday morning amid tight security at various centres set up to carry out the exercise.
In the 2020 Delhi Assembly election, the key candidates in the Tilak Nagar constituency were Jarnail Singh of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Rajiv Babbar of the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) and Raminder Singh Bamrah of the Indian National Congress.

In the 2015 Delhi state assembly elections, AAP’s Jarnail Singh won by a comfortable margin with 57,180 votes, defeating BJP’s Rajiv Babber (with 37,290 votes). In the 2013 Delhi state assembly elections, AAP’s Jarnail Singh with 34,993 votes had won the assembly seat in a close contest, defeating BJP’s Rajiv Babber (with 32,405 votes).
