West Bengal Lok Sabha Election 2o24: Prime Minister Narendra Modi Sunday launched a blistering attack on the opposition INDIA bloc and the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) in West Bengal, accusing the Mamata Banerjee-led party of turning corruption into a “full-time business” in the state where “illegal immigrants” hold sway and influence.
Addressing a poll rally at Sankrail in Howrah, Modi trained guns on the INDIA bloc, alleging that corruption is the “common character” of the parties in the opposition grouping. He also alleged that the job of TMC leaders is to create unrest in West Bengal
“Whether the Congress, Left or any other party of the INDIA bloc, all of them have made corruption their common character,” Modi alleged.
The Prime Minister further claimed that TMC is openly involved in corruption and has made it a “full-time business”.
“While many INDIA bloc parties indulge in corruption secretly, TMC does it openly. They (TMC) have made corruption a full-time business,” he said.
Modi claimed people of the state have spent their earnings buying lottery tickets and losing them in the “lottery scam”.
Targeting the TMC on the issue of illegal immigrants, the Prime Minister claimed the welfare of these illegals is at the top of the agenda for the ruling party and not the prosperity of the people of West Bengal.
He also alleged that illegal immigrants hold sway in Bengal while Indian citizens are branded as outsiders.
“They call people of India as ‘bohiragoto’ (outsiders), but illegal immigrants from other countries are given sway in Bengal,” he claimed, adding that the Congress, Left and TMC have put West Bengal’s identity on the altar.
“In many areas, the original inhabitants have become minorities,” Modi claimed.
PM Modi on Sunday held a slew of campaign rallies in TMC-ruled West Bengal. In Hooghly, the PM received a pleasant surprise when two young men presented him with portraits of his late mother Heeraben Patel on the occasion of Mother’s Day 2024.
