Kolkata: A Trinamool leader was shot at allegedly by some Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers in Birbhum district of West Bengal on Sunday. Trinamool leader Dipak Ghosh sustained a bullet injury and was immediately taken to a hospital for treatment.
“We have been informed that Trinamool leader Dipak Ghosh from Khayrasole was attacked on Sunday. But we are yet to receive any formal complaint,” said a senior police officer.
The BJP, however, denied any involvement in the attack on the Trinamool leader. Reacting to the incident, BJP state president Dilip Ghosh said, “Trinamool activists have been involved in internal fights and murders. To cover these up, they are blaming BJP.”
Condemning the attack, party’s district President Anubrata Mondal said, “The victim helped me a lot in local body polls. He was attacked by BJP workers for the second time.”
