Donald Trump India Visit Day 2 LIVE: After ‘Namaste Trump’ event in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad and a brief visit to Taj Mahal in Agra, US President Donald Trump held a bilateral meet with PM Narendra Modi. Accompanied by his wife Melania, President Trump arrived in Ahmedabad around 11:40 AM on Monday. A 12-member delegation including daughter Ivanka, son-in-law Jared Kushner also accompanied the couple for their 36-hour-long maiden visit to India.

Earlier in the day, President Trump and the First Lady received a ceremonial welcome at the forecourt of the Rashtrapati Bhavan on the day 2 of their tour. Then, they head to Rajghat and paid tribute at the ‘samadhi’ of Mahatma Gandhi. First Lady Melania Trump also visited a Delhi Government school in Nanakpura.

Later a delegation-level talks between Trump and Modi took place at Hyderabad House. Post this PM Modi would host a lunch for the US president. The visit will end with a state banquet in honour of Trump and First Lady by President Ram Nath Kovind at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

What Happened on Day 1?

Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed The Trumps with great pomp and show at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Airport in Ahmedabad on Monday. He broke the protocol to receive him.

The trio, then left for Sabarmati Ashram and then finally to the Motera Stadium, the world’s largest cricket stadium with a 1.1 lakh capacity, for the ‘Namaste Trump’ event.

At around 4:00 PM, they head to Agra and visited the Taj Mahal. UP CM Yogi Adityanath and governor Anandiben Patel had received the couple there.

Later in the evening, the First Couple arrived in the national capital amid violence over Citizenship Amendment Act.
