March 6: The talk of the town right now is veteran Bollywood actor Anupam Kher, who delivered a fiery speech at the Telegraph National Debate 2016, lambasting all the Anti-Modi brigade and especially Congress leader RS Surjewala and Justice Ashok Ganguly. Kher was speaking about the intolerance debate- a topic which is something of a favourite of his- and he targeted Congress, accusing them of hypocrisy and double standards. He mocked and ridiculed the chief Opposition party in an impassioned speech.
On Sunday, Twitter was buzzing with the Modi ‘Bhakts’ and admirers rejoicing in what they considered as the ‘shaming’ of the so-called intellectuals belonging to the ‘elite rich class’. What was interesting to note was that these Twitterati were actually mirroring the sentiments displayed Kher, by expressing aggressive joy alluding violent metaphors of the Opposition’s apparent ‘loss’ in the debate. Here’s how some of them reacted. Also Read: Anupam Kher vs Intolerance Gang: Padmabhushan Award winner rips apart Justice Ashok Ganguly and Congress on JNU issue!

Let not there be only one Anupam Kher…India needs millions like him to be INTOLERANT towards “Thinkers & Liberals” …off & on JNU campus — anuraagtrivedi (@anuraagtrivedi) March 6, 2016
People who were less than besotted by Kher’s speech, were rare. They questioned Kher’s intentions behind this aggressive promotion and defence of the Narendra Modi government and the incessant targeting of the Congress party. Meanwhile, there were also those who didn’t pick sides but just responded with humour and sarcasm (they are always there!).
