Udhampur attack: Terrorist Kasim Khan overpowered by hostages, handed over to police

Jammu, August 5: One among the terrorists who attacked a BSF convoy earlier in the day was nabbed and handed over to the Udhampur Police by the hostages. The militant, identified as Kasim Khan held the 3 captives at gunpoint and ordered them to escort him to a safe exit.

However, the three hostages along with two locals pounded over the militant on finding him in a weakened position and snatched the weapon away from him. The police arrived at the spot and detained the terrorist. “He was hungry, so we stopped, there we got together and forced him to the ground, unarmed him,” said Vikramjit Singh, one of the hostage. He told us he would not harm us so long as we showed him way to escape out.But we decided will catch him,” he added.

The apprehended insurgent, Kasim Khan is reportedly a Paksitani national belonging to the city of Faisalabad. This is the second instance of cross-border terrorism following the Gurdaspur attack in the past week. However, officials have denied to confirm.

Earlier in the day, a BSF convoy was attacked by militants who open fired at BSF jawans. 2 soldiers were slain in the unsuspected terror act, while one militant was gunned down. This is the first instance of insurgent attack in the Udhampur district in the past decade.
