New Delhi, Aug 13: Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) student Umar Khalid was shot at by an unidentified man outside Constitution Club of India in New Delhi. As per reports, he escaped the attack unhurt.
Police is at the spot right now. According to reports, Khalid was sitting outside the Constitution Club of India with a friend when the incident happened. He was there to attend an event titled ‘Khauff Se Azaadi’, organised by an organisation named ‘United Against Hate’.
An eyewitness told news agency ANI that the man who opened fire at Khalid was wearing a white shirt. He also said that the crowd ran after him but he managed to flee. “
There was an event, Umar Khalid accompanied us. We were at a tea stall when a man in white shirt came, pushed and opened fire at him. Khalid lost his balance, fell down and bullet missed him. We tried to catch the man. He fired aerial shots, pistol slipped off his hands, he fled,” he said.

The culprit managed to flee from the spot soon after opening fire. However, the police managed to recover the pistol used in the attack.
