New Delhi, June 4: Union Minister of State (Independent charge) for MSME Giriraj Singh has courted a fresh controversy by comparing opposition parties to global terrorist Osama bin Laden. Taking to a micro-blogging site, Twitter, Giriraj Singh said, “Maoists, casteist, communists, and Osamavadis have united against NDA. But NDA government by dint of its developmental plank will overcome all hurdles.
On Sunday, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra had said that the Opposition was trying to stop Prime Minister Narendra Modi from returning to power in 2019 in the way the Pakistan-based terrorist Hafiz Saeed was doing, triggering a backlash from the Opposition.
However, this is not the first time Giriraj Singh has stoked a controversy. In April, Singh had said that all those opposed to Narendra Modi should go to Pakistan as they have no place in India. He made this comment while addressing a public event in Patna.
Both leaders comment comes when all the opposition parties have united against the BJP. In recent Karnataka election, JD(S) and Congress successfully managed to keep the BJP out of the state and formed the government. A united opposition got a major boost when it delivered a huge blow to the BJP, defeating it in the Kairana Lok Sabha by-election in Uttar Pradesh and Bhandara-Gondiya in Maharashtra while the saffron party managed to retain the Palghar parliamentary seat and win only one out of the 10 Assembly seats in 10 states.
The biggest shock for the BJP came from Kairana — a seat the BJP won in 2014 — where the opposition had put up a common candidate.
