Lucknow, Mar 22: Mohsin Raza, the Muslim face of Yogi Adityanath led BJP government in Uttar Pradesh, has been given charge of Minority Affairs in the state cabinet. Besides Minority Affairs, Mohsin Raza is also made minister of science and electronics department. Mohsin Raza, a former Ranji Trophy player, was sworn in on Sunday as a minister of state in the new BJP government in Uttar Pradesh. Mohsin Raza is the lone Muslim face in the Yogi Adityanath-led government. Mohsin Raza is not a member of the state assembly. He is a spokesman of the BJP. BJP had not fielded any Muslim candidate in the Assembly polls. Raza, a winner of a beauty pageant and an actor, is not a big name in Uttar Pradesh politics. The Minority Affairs minister, however, has influence in the social circuit of Lucknow.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister on Wednesday announced the portfolios of his minister. The Chief Minister kept the Home Ministry with himself, while the Finance portfolio has been given to Rajesh Agrawal. Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya has got PWD, Food Processing, Entertainment Tax and Public Enterprises Department. Another Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma was given charge of Higher Education Ministry.
