Lucknow, March 22: Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday announced the portfolios of his ministers, four days after taking oath as a state head. Yogi Adityanath has kept portfolios of Home Ministry, whereas deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya has been allotted Public Works Department (PWD) and irrigation ministry and Dinesh Sharma – higher education ministry, news agency ANI reported. A formal list of Uttar Pradesh ministers has been sent to Governor Ram Naik and an official announcement is expected shortly.
Also, Yogi Adityanath’s list of ministers involve some big names like Rita Bahugana Joshi who was allotted child development ministry, Surya Pratap Shahi – agriculture ministry, former cricketer Chetan Chauhan gets sports ministry, Mohsin Raza gets minority affairs, science and electronics portfolio, news agency ANI tweeted.
Apart from PWD, Maurya has also given Food Processing, Entertainment Tax and Public Enterprises Department ministry. BJP leader Shrikant Sharma has been given power ministry, whereas the crucial portfolio of Finance Ministry has been given to Rajesh Aggarwal.
The decision of allocating the portfolios of 46 ministers in the government has been finalised today, four days after Yogi Adityanath took oath as Uttar Pradesh chief minister. The oath-taking ceremony took place on Sunday, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah was also present. The official announcement was made on Wednesday after Yogi Adityanath held a meeting with senior state ministers on Monday. Yogi Adityanath had made his plans clear for the future and said that his government will not indulge in any discrimination against people and will work for ‘sabka saath, sabka vikas’.
Moments after Yogi Adityanath’s name was confirmed for Uttar Pradesh chief minister post, some sections of the society have questioned it by bringing up his previous controversial statements. However, BJP leaders have argued that it is just an attempt to create insecurity among people.
“A number of political parties in Uttar Pradesh are trying to create fear among people. They are constantly trying to raise questions, they are constantly trying to raise issues as in the government in Uttar Pradesh will follow some kind of agenda which will not be in favour of people of Uttar Pradesh,” BJP leader Nalin Kohli was quoted by ANI.
Top BJP leadership had also taken a long time to make up their mind about naming Yogi Adityanath as chief minister of India’s most populous state. The BJP’s top leadership also named two deputy chief ministers – Keshav Prasad and Dinesh Sharma.
