New Delhi, March 19: As Yogi Adityanath took oath as the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, people started looking at various angles of information one could dig out. And in doing so, our friends came across this interesting fact that the Yogi has actually joined the new ‘bachelor CM club’. And in doing so we realised that as a matter of fact, he is just another drop in the sea of unmarried politicians. Factually, Yogi is now in the club which consists of Uttarakhand CM Trivendra Singh Rawat, Haryana CM ML Khattar, Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal, Naveen Patnaik of Odisha and Mamata Banerjee of West Bengal. Interestingly, apart from Patnaik and Banerjee, all the other CMs are from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). In this list, if we dig the records, (no, not Facebook relationship status), we will find that many of the leaders in the national or state levels have been single throughout their lives. Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, former UP CM Mayawati, late Tamil Nadu CM J. Jayalalithaa and finally and most importantly, former president of India APJ Abdul Kalam are the ones who top the list of unmarried leaders. However, in the case of Yogi Adityanath, he is the first unmarried CM of Uttar Pradesh. As for Khattar and Rawat, they are former RSS Pracharak.
The unmarried CMs or politicians can add their marital status as another positive trait in their personal manifestos as most of them proclaim that their being unmarried has a direct influence over their potential as ‘good’ leaders. Although this might resound with the philosophy of Batman’s relationship-commitment issues, but in real sense, we can only imagine how that has any real-life relevance.
TMC chief and West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee in her public meetings claimed that she has dedicated her entire life to the people of West Bengal and has no time for thinking about herself. In the same tone, Mayawati has been often said, “I’m of low caste, I’m unmarried and I’m yours.”
Naveen Patnaik on the other hand has used his singlehood to take a jibe on the Congress (much planned creativity)and said that unlike the Congress, since he is unmarried, there is no danger of his government indulging in family rule. This might sound familiar with what Atal Bihari Vajpayee said. As per reports, he used to underline his singlehood with pride and say there is no scope of nepotism or family rule.
Finally we arrive at the former eligible bachelor and now just bachelor of India, Rahul Gandhi. He is the unmarried Gandhi who prior to his 2014 defeat, was questioned about his singlehood. He then said that he was focused on his political career as of then and has not found the right girl.” (The author has no idea how that is relevant in this article, or any article as a matter of fact)
Well, as we come to the end of this story, we just want to clarify that this article is in no way a marriage advertisement for any of the single politician featured in here.
