Lucknow, September 13: The Yogi Adityanath government has cracked a whip on the people defecating in the open and has reportedly snapped power supply at residences of those villagers. The government has reportedly threatened withdraw ration card, pension and LPG subsidy as well.
The administration reportedly took the action after house-owners refused to build toilets even after repeated reminders, the Times Now reported.
Making his stand clear on the issue, Block Development Officer, Sarojini Nagar, Ajay Pratap Singh said that he has not cut light at any house in the village. “There is a group of people who has cut the light at residence where there is no summer sewer pump and are capable of installing. Once they would install the summer sever pump, then light would be given back,” Singh said.

Accusing BDO of cutting power supply, Lucknow Electricity Supply Administration Chief Engineer Ashutosh Niranjan said it is possible that the action was taken as residents did not construct toilets. “The action was not right. The order has been given to restore the power supply. The LESA was not given any instruction to cut the power supply,” Niranjan said.
