Kanpur, June 19: Aspirants of UP Police constables recruitment exam allegedly vandalised the AC coaches of Chauri-Chaura Express train shortly after it left the Gorakhpur Railway Station. The coach attendant also alleged that the aspirants beat him up and fled with bed sheets, and pillows, said ANI. Earlier, media reports had said that even in Lucknow, railway passengers had a tough time as candidates swarmed all the seven platforms of Charbagh railway station. The exam for UP Police constable recruitment was held from 11am to 1pm and from 3pm to 5pm. According to a report in The Times of India, over a lakh candidates had appeared for around 45,000 posts. As trains arrived at the station, candidates began boarding them, even barging into reserved compartments in both AC and non-AC coaches. Passengers lodged complaints with railway protection force.
According to the report, Bhatinda Express, Mumbai-Gorakhpur Express and Kanpur Anwarganj Intercity Express were affected. “I was sleeping when the train reached Charbagh. People carrying bags on their shoulders began entering our coach. I asked the attendant to stop them but the crowd pushed him back. We were scared but the RPF controlled the situation,” the report quoted Amisha Wakhalu who was aboard the Mumbai-Gorakhpur Express.
Meanwhile, the UP Police busted a hi-tech cheating racket ahead of the UP Police Constable Recruitment exam. As many as 11 people were arrested in Gorakhpur and eight in Allahabad, said police. Officers of the UP Special Task Force and the Allahabad police caught the accused on Sunday for taking large sums of money in exchange for “solving” papers for candidates appearing in the UP police constable recruitment exam, said a media report.
