Varanasi, March 5: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday attacked political rivals in poll-bound Uttar Pradesh accusing them of working only for political gains at the time of crucial elections. PM Narendra Modi today carried out a massive roadshow in Varanasi where votings will be held in the last phase of the seven-phase Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections on March 8. After completing the massive roadshow PM Modi addressed a public rally in Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith in Varanasi where he said, “Samajwadi Party, BSP and Congress Party believe in ‘kuch ka saath kuch ka vikas‘. Whereas BJP’s principle of governance is ‘sabka saath sabka vikas’.”

PM Modi, who arrived in Varanasi, his Lok Sabha constituency, on Saturday morning, held a roadshow followed by a public meeting in the evening. Today, it was the second roadshow that PM Modi carried out in Varanasi. On the other side, the leaders of Opposition criticised his Saturday’s roadshow and the Congress even went ahead to lodge a complaint with the Elections Commission, alleging that the campaign was made without the requisite permission.

At the venue – Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith in Varanasi – where large number of BJP supporters and active workers were waiting to listen to their leader, PM Modi arrived there at around 8 PM. Here are some highlights from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech in Varanasi:

• Prime Minister started his speech by chanting “Har Har Mahadev”.
• I do not know how can I thank people of Kashi. They have broken yesterday’s records. By showing so much love and affection to me, it inspires me more to serve my people.
• Some years ago, I had joined a rally from Kashmir to Kanyakumari under Murali Manohar Joshi, but I have never seen so much crowd in my life. Not even in the rally from Kashmir to Kanyakumari.
• This place (Varanasi) has a special place for every Indian in their heart. It’s not only a city but a city of culture and traditions.
• I have big dreams for Varanasi. Our aim is that Banaras that is modern yet must retain its heritage.
• BJP’s motto is ‘sabka saath sabka vikas’, but Samajwadi Party, BSP and Congress have a different culture of politics that says ‘kuch ka saath kuch ka vikas’.
• The eastern part of India has a new scale of heights and development.
• Uttar Pradesh government is hiding my work.
• Demonetisation has united other parties against me.
• Uttar Pradesh is blessed with people with huge talent. Over here there is a huge potential for development.
• If there was a proper government in Uttar Pradesh, then the states could have flourished even further.
• Don’t you think corruption must come to an end? It’s been so many years since we attained freedom but a small section of powerful people misused their position.
• Uttar Pradesh government has not been able to utilise the funds given to them by the centre.
• I want to clarify all honest citizens – no one will ever bother you.
• When other governments were in power at the Centre, questions were asked – How much money was lost (in the scams), now people ask a question to me – What has come back.
• It is sad to see that some people motivated by their political benefits, wanted proof of surgical strikes and were asking did any Indian soldier died there.
• We always wanted to build a ring road but state government did not cooperate and kept obstructing that. They never cooperated with the Centre.
• By 2022, I want every Indian should have his or her own home. It is sad to see that after so many years of independence people in India are living without homes.
