New Delhi: In a shocking incident, at 15 persons including the groom fell into a drain in Hoshiyarpur village of Noida on Saturday. The incident took place in the evening when the wedding procession was heading towards the entrance of the wedding venue. They were reportedly dancing on a small bridge which accidentally collapsed. Reportedly, the bridge connected the wedding banquet hall’s gate to its lawn and it was built over a drain. In the unfortunate incident, two children were also injured. According to the Hindustan Times report, the wedding procession was dancing on the bridge for over 10 minutes. Many people who fell into the drain had lost their mobile and jewellery. The incident created tension among the families and it ended only after the owner of the banquet hall paid Rs 3 lakh in cash to the bride’s family. An eyewitness said that the bride’s family was standing on the other end of the bridge to welcome the groom and other family relatives. The groom and baarat were dancing while others walked across to reach the lawn.
Media reports claimed that the groom was a 35-year-old businessman from Ghaziabad, and the bride a 32-year-old resident of Delhi.
