Uttar Pradesh: 8 dead on spot as ambulance rams into a parked truck 

Uttar Pradesh topped the list of casualties due to dangerous driving in the country in 2015. Out of the total 48,093 deaths in India in 2015 due to careless driving, UP accounted for 8,109 deaths.

Lucknow, Feb 14: Eight people have been killed after an ambulance rammed into a parked truck on Monday night in Sant Kabir Nagar of Uttar Pradesh. Sant Kabir Nagar is one of the 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh while Khalilabad city is the district headquarters. According to a recent report of the National Crime Records Bureau-Accidents in India, Uttar Pradesh topped the list of casualties due to dangerous driving in the country in 2015. The report also stated that out of the total 48,093 deaths in India in 2015 due to careless driving, UP accounted for 8,109 deaths.

The report clearly mentions figures and the cause of death. Accidents due to dangerous or careless driving or overtaking led to most number of fatalities in Uttar Pradesh (8,109) which is then followed by Maharashtra (4,296. Uttar Pradesh also had major fatalities due to drink-n-drive cases.

Last month, 30 children were feared dead, and 40 others injured in a fatal collision between a school bus and a truck in the state’s Etah district. The driver of the bus was also killed in the accident. The children were from JS Public School in Etah. It was reported that the school had remained open even after the Etah administration announced three days of holidays due to cold.  As per reports by India Today, the number of children killed in the accident could be as high as 25.

Poll-bound state Uttar Pradesh has recorded the highest number of road accidents in the past few years. Voting in Uttar Pradesh will be held for 403 seats and will be conducted in seven-phases. The campaigning for the second phase of Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections 2017 Assembly elections came to an end on Monday as the state gear up to vote for the second phase on Wednesday.
