Ballia, Feb 8: A class 4 student, who was admitted to hospital after being slapped by a teacher in a Ballia school in Uttar Pradesh, died on Wednesday. Demanding agaisnt the accused teacher and manager of the school, the victim’s parents staged a protest outside the school with the body of the girl.
An FIR has been registered against the accused teacher Rajni Upadhyay on charges of culpable homicide and voluntarily causing hurt, Superintendent of Police Anil Kumar said. The manager of the school has also been named in the FIR.
The family of the victim alleged that the class four student was slapped by one teacher named Rajni Upadhyay on February 5 after she failed to answer a question. The victim, the parents alleged, had fainted after being slapped. The school, however, claimed that the student had a history of epilepsy and had collapsed several times in school.
She was immediately admitted to Banaras Hindu University hospital in Varanasi. The doctors said that she had received a fatal head injury that had led to internal bleeding. The student died on Wednesday, February 7.
The station officer of the area, Jagdish Yadav, told Times of India that they didn’t find any external injury on the body of the girl. The cause of her death will be determined only after receiving the autopsy report, he said.
