Lucknow, March 17: In a major development, the oath ceremony of the new Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and the cabinet ministers will be held on Sunday at Smriti Upwan in Lucknow. As reported by news agency ANI, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP national president Amit Shah will also attend the swearing-in ceremony in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday. If CNN-News18 report is to be believed, the name of the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister will be announced on Saturday around 4 pm.
Speculations on the name of the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister have been rife since March 11, when the results of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections 2017 were announced in which the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) emerged as the single largest party by winning over 300 seats and leaving behind the Samajwadi Party-Congress alliance and the BSP.
BJP leader Manoj Sinha is considered as the favourite among the key contenders for the post of Uttar Pradesh chief minister. However, the party has, as of yet, not made any announcement regarding the same and the leader himself has ruled out the possibility of the same.
Names of two more union ministers, Smriti Irani and Kalraj Mishra, Lucknow Mayor Dinesh Sharma, national BJP Spokesperson Shrikant Sharma and Gorakhpur MP Yogi Adityanath have been doing the rounds for chief ministerial post. Earlier there were speculations that BJP UP chief Keshav Prasad Maurya might be given the power to rule the state.
