Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections 2017 witnessed intense three way battle between the Samajwadi Party-Congress alliance, the BJP and Mayawati’s BSP. While the SP joined hand with Congress to regain power, the BJP and BSP are trying to wrest power after 15 and five years respectively. Uttar Pradesh Assembly poll is a crucial electoral battle for Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, who is banking on his slogan of ‘Kaam Bolta Hai’ (work speaks), and his alliance partner Congress, which is in dire need of a political resurgence. The election is the first big test of PM Narendra Modi and his BJP after demonetisation drive. For Mayawati’s BSP, the election is like do or die as the party failed to win even a single seat in the 2014 Lok sabha polls. WATCH – Uttar Pradesh Election Results 2017 LIVE Streaming

While the BJP banked on the popularity of PM Narendra Modi, the SP-Congress alliance brought Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Dimple Yadav for campaigning, apart from Akhilesh and Rahul. CATCH – Assembly Election Results 2017 LIVE News Updates
Ahead of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly election results 2017, most of the exit polls predicted hung assembly with the BJP emerging closest to the threshold of 202 seats in the 403-seat assembly. Of the five exit polls by ABP-CSDS, Times Now-VMR, India TV-CVoter, India Today-Axis and MRC, only Axis suggested the BJP getting a clear majority with 265 seats. The rest predicted that the BJP would stay below the 200-mark. The Samajwadi Party-Congress combine is lagging far behind, exit polls forecast on Thursday. The BSP, which was being seen as the proverbial dark horse by a few political analysts, has been projected by all the exit polls as the distant third.
