The exit polls results declared on Saturday show the BJP in the lead whereas, the Samajwadi Party on the second position in Uttar Pradesh. Different agencies in their exit polls had announced the BSP on the third position in Uttar Pradesh. The incumbent Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav is the chief ministerial candidate of Samajwadi Party whereas, Mayawati is that of the Bahujan Samaj Party. However, the BJP is yet to declare its own CM face in Uttar Pradesh. Congress had declared former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit as its CM face who withdrew after the party entered into an alliance with the Samajwadi Party.

Noteworthy, the state has 403 legislative assembly constituencies out of which 85 are reserved for a candidate belonging to scheduled caste. According to the special summary revision of electoral rolls, there are a total of 14.05 crore voters in Uttar Pradesh as of January 2015. Out of the total number, 7.7 crore voters are male, 6.3 crore are females, 6,983 are third gender. According to Election Commission data, the Akhilesh Yadav and Rahul Gandhi-led SP-Congress alliance is contesting of 298 and 105 seats respectively.
