Barabanki, May 13: The engine of Patna-Kota Express train got derailed on Saturday near Dariyaband in Uttar Pradesh. No casualties were reported in the incident which was reported late at night around 11 PM. Train operations on the route have been affected due to the accident.

According to reports, the accident was caused after the train number 13237, Patna-Kota Express, moving towards Lucknow from Patna via Faizabad, hit a tree which had fallen on the railway track due to thunderstorm that struck Uttar Pradesh a few days back.

Relief trains from Barabanki and Lucknow have been sent to the spot. Meanwhile, the operation of trains coming towards Barabanki from Faizabad has been hampered.

Reportedly, the Indian Railways have ordered a probe in the incident.

Earlier in the first week of May, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan have alone witnessed over 120 deaths due to thunderstorm and violent winds.
